What Is Schema Markup?
Schema markup (also called structured data) uses the Schema.org vocabulary to annotate web pages with machine-readable information. For dealerships, key schema types include Vehicle (for VDPs with price, mileage, condition), LocalBusiness (for location pages with hours, address, services), Service (for service department offerings), FAQPage (for FAQ sections that can appear as rich results), and BreadcrumbList (for navigation structure). Schema markup is critical for AI visibility because it gives AI tools structured facts they can cite directly. Dealerships with comprehensive schema implementation see higher rich snippet rates, better AI citation frequency, and improved click-through rates.
