What Is Local Pack?

The local pack (also called the "3-pack" or "map pack") appears for searches with local intent - "car dealership near me," "oil change [city]," etc. For dealerships, appearing in the local pack is often more valuable than ranking #1 in organic results because the pack appears first and includes rich information (rating, hours, photos, directions). Local pack rankings are determined by relevance, distance, and prominence. Prominence factors include GBP completeness, review signals, NAP consistency, and local content quality. Dealerships typically target 10-20 priority keywords for local pack visibility.
