Duplicate Content
Identical or substantially similar content appearing at multiple URLs on the same site or across different sites, diluting SEO value and confusing search engines.

What Is Duplicate Content?
Duplicate content is one of the most common technical SEO issues on dealership websites. Sources include: manufacturer-provided vehicle descriptions copy-pasted across VDPs, location pages with only the city name swapped, service pages with identical content across departments, and inventory filter combinations creating multiple URLs for the same vehicle list. Google doesn't penalize duplicate content per se, but it does choose which version to index - and may choose wrong. Solutions include canonical tags, unique content creation for every page, proper URL parameter handling, and content differentiation strategies. AI search tools are even less tolerant of duplicate content, typically ignoring it entirely.
