What Is Zero-Click Search?
Zero-click searches account for an estimated 60%+ of all Google searches. Users get their answer from featured snippets, knowledge panels, AI Overviews, or local pack information without ever visiting a website. For dealerships, this trend has two implications: (1) Some informational queries ("dealership hours," "oil change price") may never drive a click, so optimizing for them primarily builds brand visibility. (2) Being the source that Google cites in these zero-click features still has value - it builds brand authority and recognition even without the click. The strategy is to own the zero-click features for your brand and local queries while creating content compelling enough to earn clicks for commercial and transactional queries.
