What Is Long-Tail Keyword?
Long-tail keywords are specific, often longer search queries that represent a smaller share of total search volume but a larger share of total searches (the "long tail" of the distribution). For dealerships, long-tail keywords are often the most valuable: "2026 Toyota Camry XSE for sale Austin TX" has far less competition than "Toyota dealer" and much higher purchase intent. Long-tail keywords also dominate AI search - when someone asks ChatGPT a detailed question about a vehicle or service, the query is inherently long-tail. Strategies for capturing long-tail traffic include: comprehensive VDP content, FAQ pages, comparison content, and model-specific guides. Most successful dealership content strategies generate 70%+ of their organic traffic from long-tail queries.
